About VHLSS 2018
The Vietnam Household Living Standards Survey (VHLSS) is a periodic survey conducted by the General Statistics Office (GSO) to evaluate the living standards of the population and households in Vietnam. The survey provides data and indicators on various aspects of living standards, such as income, expenditure, education, health, housing, employment, social security and subjective well-being. The VHLSS 2018 was the 11th survey in the series, covering 9,310 households and 33,590 individuals in all 63 provinces and cities of Vietnam. The survey results showed that the living standards of Vietnamese people had improved significantly compared to previous years, with higher per capita income and expenditure, lower poverty rate, better access to basic services and infrastructure, and higher satisfaction with life. However, the survey also revealed some challenges and gaps in living standards across regions, areas, ethnic groups and income groups.
