VHLSS 2020 dataset

The Vietnam - Household Living Standards Survey (VHLSS) is a nationwide survey conducted by the General Statistics Office (GSO) of Vietnam. The survey aims to collect data on various aspects of household living standards, such as income, expenditure, consumption, poverty, education, health, housing, environment, social security, and subjective well-being. The survey also provides information on the impact of shocks and coping strategies of households in different regions and socio-economic groups.

The VHLSS has been conducted regularly by the GSO since 1993, with a frequency of every two years from 2002 to 2010, and annually from 2011 to 2020. The latest survey was conducted from July 1st to December 31st, 2020, covering a sample of 50,400 households in all 63 provinces and cities of Vietnam. The survey used a stratified two-stage cluster sampling design, with communes as primary sampling units and households as secondary sampling units.
